2. No bigotry or harassment, be civil

No bigotry, hardline stance. Try not to get too heated when entering into a discussion or debate. We are here to talk and discuss about one of our passions, not fight or be exposed to hate. Yeah I think it became such a meme partially because the comic itself was out of place in CAD, but mostly for Buckley's reputation. Plenty of other serial webcomics had similar range of tone and style.

Doom 2016 wasn't exactly generous with ammo limits in the early game, but Eternal was a chore. Here's 20 enemies, 6 of them are cacodemons that will only die if you lob a shotgun grenade at their mouth. You have 12 shotgun and 50 plasma bullets, the latter enough to kill 1 caco.

You're talking nonsense, is what you're talking about. What does a genre drying up have to do with IP or copyright? Like, are you even reading your own words? Strangling out smaller studios any way possible Supergiant Games, CDPR, Larian, Sandfall Interactive and every single indie creator out there clearly haven't been informed of how horrible their situation is. Maybe you should contact them and let them know that the 10/10 games they've been making are impossible to make due to copyright and IP protection laws?

The only series I would consider installing ubisofts launcher for. The trailer looks really good, it seems like they have made modifiers for island beauty localised rather than island wide which makes sense, now we can benefit from building sperate residential and industrial districts. Land based combat I think is also new, it will be interesting to see how this plays out, but the lack did always seem like a glaring omission in 1800. Hopefully they have done away with the influence system or at-least heavily modified it, it felt so bad in 1800 having to pick between ships, island defenses and buildings that allowed you to actually use all the cool items you found.

I love that mechanic. It forces the players movement to be more strategic while ramping up the tension. "I have to look away to get around this obstacle, can I do it quick? How close will it be when I look back?" Then you get stuck on something and it's like "shitshitshit"
  • Uh, no, it's a meme because people suck and are unoriginal.

The one hit kill is an incredibly meaningful choice, and I feel like it drives a lot of other decisions as well. It forces the player to be completely unburdened by the weight of their actions, killing without a thought. The second you fret about your next move, the flow is interrupted, and your survival chances drop. And since you spend so little time on any single enemy, that drives decisions about how success is measured, etc etc. The similarities fall into place when you hew very closely to the single hit kill mechanic. I don't fault Ludic at all for the similarities here, it's an innocent case of carcinization. If you're going to make a game whose loop is so tight that you can boot up the game and enter an extremely satisfying flow state in a minute flat, you make something like this. I'm definitely going to check out Akane next.

The No AFK role part is one of my favorite parts about it. It means a party of 3 isn't broken down into 2, which can be sometimes annoying. I think the closest i've seen is usually one of our players will head back to the truck early and wait if they have a Map Player count so they can watch to see if anybody dies and run out to grab them (or leave if the risk is to high)

There's also the fact that hardware costs keep going up, but there's not really a big technological leap between generations anymore. There's little reason to buy into the next generation when the selling point boils down to "Play the same games, but slightly smoother*!" *If there's enough development time to implement the option to do so

Survival horror is not my cuppa, but Alpha Beta Gamer recorded some gameplay from the demo(?) it for people who like that sort of thing: [YouTube] Labyrinth of the Demon King - Crunchy Retro-Grim Survival Horror Set in Feudal Japan!

No offense taken, thanks for the detailed reply! You're absolutely right that the chinese market is much larger and could exert this force if it wanted to, but the EU rarely makes these types of moves, and they're normally focusing on consumer protection (think GDPR), which I don't think the CCP is really focused on.

fair enough, it's still in stark contrast to all of eternal's exposition, which was pretty hard to watch (the Colosseum scenes especially). That's not to say the story isn't good or interesting,
