I can't remember if they have covered it in the show, but why are the voids attacking them again? I was thinking that the main cast should find the root cause and nip it in the bud. Or even better: they should confront the creator of A Tale of Perishing for good.

Well of course the run time keeps getting longer. This is a TV series, not a movie. And, of course Natsuko's version of the Tale Of Perishing is way off course from the original: Unio lives, Destiny is very different, and also lives. But if retellings have to be a little different, then key elements in the story also have to be the same. Are the writers setting Natsuko up for an ultimate tragedy? Or is she going to forge Tales Of Not Perishing from this world? I was a bit unenthusiastic going into this episode, thinking that it might be some drawn-out flashback. While the flashbacks were long, I found the whole episode to be a fun trek through Natsuko's inadvertent romcom maneater adolescence. Each flashback had little surprises, while also emphasizing how Natsuko is 200% dedicated to her craft. Fukushima's (the animation studio's president) perspective was also interesting. Drawing a parallel between Natsuko and the director of A Tale of Perishing (who, unlike the bird, is smiling in Fukushima's recollection), and challenging Natsuko to surpass her current limitations.
