If I select "Vintage" in the sidebar on marginalia then my site seems to plop even higher. Normally I wouldn't get top-3 hits on:Star TrekGhostbustersMetroidDigimon(I was once top-3 for Metroid on Google... back in 1999.)Marginalia doesn't seem to do so well on quotes using common words, if it even does quotes at all.

I always played ttrpgs in theater of mind mode, like:"Your sensors pick up a moving heat signature in the difficult rocky terrain 50 paces ahead but you actually can't see anything clearly. Roll perception. Ah, when you look in the direction you see the mottled grey rocks move. Hum, biologist character Bob recognizes it as a camouflaged Hylian land squid."

@androidarts I love how reassuring the Mac one is... someone should just make an app that pops this dialog up every once in a while just so you feel good

I suppose it's possible that the BIOS boot order I had pointed to my new NVME with grub and LM finally was accepted (it was ignored before so I had to hit esc to select the NVME as a boot drive). So the firmware basically just fixed a bug. So then when I got to the NVME grub menu directly my esc hit was taken from the key buffer and brought me directly out of the grub menu. Yeah, something like that, maybe?

@androidarts there’s an app for Linux that does that automatically but I don’t remember the name and I’m not home right now so I can’t check either

@androidarts What is needed is something that show both symbols all the time and clearly highlights which of the two is active and which one is inactive.

If I could get a group together to play Promethean: the Created, that would be awesome

Anyways, seems I got the arduino IDE to work. I put the now executable appimage on my desktop.Then... then... then I followed my own tutorial from ages ago, getting avrdude, adding myself to the dialout group, then set up some rules for the USBtiny and USBasp so I can upload bootloaders over ICSP. Also had to remember how to set up the IDE for that... setting the Programmer, Board and remembering to Upload Using Programmer... It's so easy to forget. It's ok if Port menu doesn't list it!

Living dangerously in Linux. GParted can't resize the in-use main partition and make place for a swap partition, so I made a swap file following a tutorial instead. Apparently if it's >RAM it can be used for hibernation.Originally did make a NTFS from w11 as a test thinking I could use it to shuttle files safely as both OSes can see it.Usually Linux creates a whole bunch of fancy extra partitions but I guess it didn't because I made a manual "something else" install.sudoing xed unhappy :(

Alright, so I put it on a pack of ice cubes and kept moving the mouse.... managed to keep it running for 20 mins or so instead of 5.So I thought it could be either the screen dimmer (which is BIOS controlled), or the temp.But then it froze at like 95% install. So it's not the screen dimmer. Now running it on a larger ice pack... No, it still froze, faster this time.I noticed 2 ICs (some BIOS RAM?) were not heatsinked but it might be pointless. Will go outside tonight, boot in cold.
