wrote on 1 Jun 2025, 19:55 last edited byYeah, it started with Kingdom of Loathing, which is a free to play browser game, and more recently Shadows over Loathing, which has this cool 1920s Lovecraftian setting. All keep that great humor

Made me think about Dimension 20's Mentopolis. All of these would be characters instead of stats though.

Two of these stats are in my TTRPG (gumption and moxie).
It also features things like pep, knacks, savvy, and nerve.

Ah, the "Provincial dad" class.
wrote on 1 Jun 2025, 22:12 last edited by"Provincial dad" class features include:
- Bulk discount store membership.
- May name a "preferred grill out spot". Gains advantage on movement rolls anytime their turn would end at their "preferred grill out spot". Players who use this ability successfully must then move to their preferred grill out spot, or make a Willl save DC 14 vs 1d4 psychic damage.
- Elemental Resistance 5 (all elements) when operating any lawn or garden care implement.
- Resistant to poison (advantage on save rolls) in any food or drink that they believe to be "hand-crafted" or "locally sourced"

whats a jib?
wrote on 1 Jun 2025, 23:26 last edited byI know it's a joke, but: a really small sail.

Jib.
The jib sail is the triangular one at the prow of a ship. Different countries used different designs, so liking the cut of a jib meant you recognized it.

This reminds me of HOL (Human Occupied Landfill), which I've read about but haven't played.
Anyway, it has stats like Meat, Feet, and Mouth, and skills like "That Psycho Bruce Lee Shit", "Pilot Starship and Chew Gum at the Same Time", "Whining Until You Get What You Want", and "Turn Radios Into Howitzers".

Sounds like something on a spectrum between Call of Cthulu 1981 and West of Loathing.

wrote on 2 Jun 2025, 04:06 last edited byCame to say this same thing, Call of Cthulhu 1981 is a blast, the most fun I’ve had with a TTRPG.

This sounds like a modified Kids on Bikes system as seen in a few seasons of Dimension 20.
