Like it or not, any self-hosted project can not be successful if there is no one to appreciate it...
Absolutely wrong. I've had multiple I've kept going for years because I've created them for specific use-cases that literally nobody else touches, and I've run and contributed to multiple huge public projects. Never once did I ever think of abandoning the former because nobody else was using them.
This sounds like musing of someone who is new to the scene and thinks it works like social media influencer BS.
It does not.

Like it or not, any self-hosted project can not be successful if there is no one to appreciate it, I am not sure if this is the right place to be posting this but I need advice
Basically I want all your tried and tested techniques to get one's project out to the world
Now a little more specifics for my project, I have developed many utilities for windows that solve genuine problems, like retrieving forgotten WiFi Passwords, nothing revolutionary but stuff that just makes your day to day life easier, especially for non tech geeks, where could I get the most audience?
You probably can find some people on old school windows forums, also different warez/piracy forums. You can also try to show off on hackernews/lobsters, sometimes people there just love small projects like yours.

The point of self hosting is not to engage people going in your server. The point of self hosting is to have control over your infrastructure. It's like renting or buying a home.
When you buy a home, you don't complain that no one wants to sleep in your home

My self hosted projects have someone to appreciate them - me.
Marketing means bothering people. Two of the raspberry pi’s I own are dedicated to fighting unsolicited marketing. Marketing is anathema to me.

Because what you are working on is USEFUL. Gtfo. Create cause you love it not cause its a job. We have those and usually dont want an additional one.

Why create a self hosting setup if you're the only one using it? Same idea.
I build things to solve a problem I have, not to get famous or rich.

I think you misunderstand the word "self" :
noun
plural selves
a person or thing referred to with respect to complete individuality:
one's own self.
a person's nature, character, etc.:
his better self.
personal interest.
Philosophy:
the ego; that which knows, remembers, desires, suffers, etc., as contrasted with that known, remembered, etc.
the uniting principle, as a soul, underlying all subjective experience
Sounds to me like you're more interested in the ego portion of self.
I've spent years doing things for myself, my friends, my family, not from ego, but because I believe the things I've done are important (either to me or to my friends/family), and that I'm the person that can do those things.
And if anyone else has found what I've done to be useful, then I'm pleased to find that so, and consider it my little bit of contributing to the world, and making someone else's life a little easier. I don't need to know this from anyone, I'm just glad if it's happened.

BTW if anyone is interested in the WiFi app: https://muhammadj.gumroad.com/l/wifipassfinder
What's self hosted about that app?

Self hosted and open source projects are successful if you enjoy it or are solving something you need.
Bonus points if it helps someone else too.
