Not casting aspersions or trying to cancel Skyrim Grandma, but the BDS movement is calling for a Microsoft (and by extension Bethesda) boycott. If you're thinking about buying Oblivion Remastered, maybe don't.

You can always "buy" it on the high seas, like Meta did with millions of books 🏴‍☠️

        Boycott, divest, sanction, regarding Israel.

MSFT owns Bethesda, and MSFT is actively partnering with, providing software services for, right now, the Israeli government and military.

        https://blogs.microsoft.com/on-the-issues/2025/05/15/statement-technology-israel-gaza/

Can't even say 'Palestine' internally, right now:

        https://www.yahoo.com/news/microsoft-blocking-employees-sending-emails-155356956.html?guccounter=1

... after they fired a whole bunch of people who were working at MSFT and basicslly both leaked that MSFT was working with the IMOD, and also demanded they cease doing so.

        https://apnews.com/article/microsoft-fired-workers-israel-palestinians-gaza-72de6fe1f35db9398e3b6785203c6bbf

        https://www.dropsitenews.com/p/microsoft-azure-israel-top-customer-ai-cloud

        https://www.thewrap.com/microsoft-fires-engineers-protesting-israeli-military-gaza/

These are two different pairs of two who've been fired for speaking up, out of the 1st and 3rd of this chunk of links.

I used to contract for MSFT, a decade ago.

I would have said I cannot imagine how their internal culture of self censorship and sycophancy could get any worse, but apparently this is how.

I am very confident more than just these 4 people have been fired, or at the very least, had their careers/employment functionally slotted into an early grave.

I saw the link before the comment and wondered what an "ovement" was.

              Boycott, Divest, Sanction

Basically saying to not give Israel any money due to their human rights violations and genocide.

The fact that it is illegal for some Americans to advocate for BDS is a pretty big reason for people to say we need to do it

Conservatives on the Supreme court: money is speech, corporations can have unlimited speech now.

                People: BDS!

                Conservatives: no, not like that.

And like what are you buying that the original game plus a few mods wouldn't give you? Controller support on steam? Not worth it

This article is false, though. She's been putting out videos again, Skyrim included, for a while now.

If you have an ethics dilemma don’t buy any video games. None of the studios are doing what they should or paying their people well. None of these corporations are your friends, end the billionaire bosses aren’t good people, not even Gabe.

It’s Microsoft today, Nintendo yesterday, Sony the day before, steam tomorrow, cycle back, etc.

Again you may as well quit gaming if you’re worried about corporate greed

Only big studio gaming. There are still indie games. Although where you get it also would matter if its ethically important to you.

Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions. Microsoft is complicit in the genocide of Palestinians, as shown by the recent outburst of employees working on tools used by Zionists to perpetuate apartheid in Israel's territories.

                                          Here, someone gave more details:
