Installed a 500 GB NVME into my dinky E410... but moving Windows seems like it's a hassle. On an (older) Mac you just boot into a special place and you can clone from there with the built-in tools, but on Windows you of course have to risk downloading shady or paid software.
Maybe I can make a linux boot key? Linux probably has some neat cloning tools. dd?

Well, as a test I installed linux mint on the new NVME, following an explaining computers video where the boot menu (grub) goes on the separate linux drive, leaving the internal w11 drive untouched.
Didn't dare to install codecs as that requires messing with secure boot and BIOS passwords for unknown silly reasons.

Now typing from Linux Mint. It seems codecs aren't needed for basic youtube. Maybe they're for VLC DVD playback and DRMed streaming?
The Linux Mint installer didn't make a swap partition (I did a custom "something else" install), nor a big swap file. Seems I need to make one as I'm at 70-80% mem use out of 4 GB already....

Originally did make a NTFS from w11 as a test thinking I could use it to shuttle files safely as both OSes can see it.
Usually Linux creates a whole bunch of fancy extra partitions but I guess it didn't because I made a manual "something else" install.
sudoing xed unhappy :(
