Day 323 of posting a Daily Screenshot from the games l've been playing

Today's game is Stellaris. I picked this up with the Winter Sale and finally decided to give it a go. I'm hooked. I made my own Empire and tried to go for a diplomatic xenophile fox like species named Cevellians. They're an Elected Dictatorship (at least if i remember correctly) and they've formed a treaty with one of their neighbors.
At first tensions with all the neighbors except the Saiiban Foundation were tense. Eventually though the Haspalv Federation kept getting their asses kicked by the Kaan-Visam federation and the neighbors north, and they offered themselves as a territory. I said yes, intending to annex them and making them a Vassal after tensions with Kaan-Visam calm down.
Kaan-Visam ended up declaring war on me though, and my allies and me went to war against them. They only had two major points of entry into our system, so i rapidly militarized and steam rolled them. I didn't really understand the claims system until after the war, but i accidentally walked off with the majority of their territory. I'm trying to improve diplomatic relations with them and annex them so that way i don't have to deal with their constant invasions, though after taking most their land they've chilled out. Still, i'd like peace if possible, and if not i'll have to militarize again for self defense.
So far this is what the galaxy looks like. I've been making deals with everyone i'm in good standing with. Theirs one Corporation Faction that keeps subjecting people by force. So far they took the entire southern portion of the map. If they try to invade me or my allies though i'm preparing to invade for self defense. I also told all their Territories that if they try for independence i'll help them. The faction scooping everyone up is getting really annoying and they're starting to push everyone around.
Oh boy youre gonna be hooked!
I bet next few weeks are gonna be Stellaris only screencaps hahaha

Saw your first screenshot in the post and immediately thought Eve online.
I haven’t thought about that game in a few years.
I know that’s not what you’re playing but now I’m thinking about Eve again.

I was up until 5 AM playing lol. If I didn’t promise to play something else with some friends I wouldn’t not be surprised at all if today was Stellaris too

I could never get into Stellaris, or most other Paradox games for that matter. I have a thing where I want the complete experience on my first playthrough, and Paradox's DLC practices are like anti-catnip for me. I can't enjoy the base game because I keep thinking of what all I'm missing out on, but the game with all DLCs is overwhelming for a newbie.
Side note, I got excited seeing this post's thumbnail because I thought you were playing Starsector. Great game if you haven't picked it up yet, one of those indie games that does a half-dozen genres and does them well.
I’m getting a lot of game recommendations from this lol. I’ll have to give Starsector a look because I’m always in the mood to try a new game

I've spent so many hours building empires in that game. I even played to it on the Deck (docked) with a Bluetooth keyboard and mouse.
Damn. Last December if I had played then that would have been my load out too lol. How does it run on the deck? I’m seriously considering installing it on mine to take it on the go

I’ve heard of Eve before but know nothing about it. Is it similar to this? I might pick it up

They are completely different experiences. Eve online has a steep learning curve and is a player driven open world sandbox.
I haven’t played stelaris but after a google comparison between Eve and stelaris, I want to try it.
Eve online offers free to play now. They offer alpha accounts with the option to upgrade to omega whenever you want. I’m thinking about getting back with just an alpha account for frigate pvp.

You need to put those scientists to work.

I really do lol. I was so caught up with getting territory before the Faction that kept starting wars with me could that I forgot to actually do the anomalies

No seriously, you might want to get on that. End game lag is atrocious with more survivng civs.

Already starting to experience it lol. I was going to lower my resolution from 2k to see if it helps but i was holding off

It ran great.
Obviously it is better to keep it to a medium to small sized galaxy for his tiny CPU to keep up during endgame, but I was very surprised how well it ran.I should try one of my enormous galaxy endgame one day, to see how well it will manage

Is 4.0 out yet? One of my favorite games, but late game often gets unplayable

I’ll have to set it up then. I probably won’t go larger than a medium galaxy so it should do well then. If I get back into fine tuning the performance for steam deck maybe I can get a good balance too
