I won't buy one, and will likely retire from purchasing consoles.
I want a machine that plays games that belong to me, that have no online requirements whatsoever.
I want to own a machine that cannot be bricked remotely by the seller.
It's a pastime/luxury/extravagance that I can and will abandon and replace with something more reasonable.

This, with the paid updates list, covers most of the first party games, though there are still some that's left.

Which gets me thinking... have we seen any announcement for third party game upgrade patches? Free or paid?

Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma - $10 upgrade pack. Interestingly, the Switch 2 physical is a special cart that can boot the Switch 1 version on legacy hardware, or the bundled upgrade pack on Switch 2.
I believe those are the only two so far, and they're cross-gen launch titles rather than any older releases. Sega on the other hand is notably not doing this, they're porting a few of their Switch 1 titles at full price with no upgrade option.

I'm curious how much valve is gonna charge for the steamdeck 2 game upgrades.
They are so bad at business they will probably forget to charge me, just like they did for my steam online subscription to play online multiplayer steam games...

Pokémon Scarlet & Violet seem the obvious beneficiaries from that list. Any improvements made to their atrocious performance would feel significant.
