    I guess I love suffering and play games only because it's not enough in real life (that's why my favourite genres are souls-likes and fightings, but that's another story).
    I'm currently playing Expedition 33, and this game marks some areas as "dangerous", implying that the player is underleveled to defy local bosses and mobs. But hey, it sounds like a challenge!
    The moveset of the first boss I've met was very small—only 3 moves. But that was not the issue here: I dealt very little damage, whereas they simply one-shot me. After two days I finally made it: 37 minutes of patience, and 265 successful parries in my winning attempt. I'm very proud of myself 🙂 It was not the longest time I've spent on a boss, but by far the longest attempt

    Congrats! That's absolutely what I found most exhilarating with Expedition 33 gameplay-wise, being able to defeat much tougher enemies with a mix of persistence and parrying/dodging - that was really rewarding imo.

      I did a few exploration and chromatic bosses during the story but not going far away the main path.

      I didn’t want to be overpowered for the story boss as you can’t enjoy the battle and music when you almost ont shot things. You can even miss lore with some bosses.

      So exploring is done now, with Esquie flying and the story done. I can build the cheesiest team I want now without having regrets.

      Yeah, that's true. I always explore everything I can reach first, although if I encounter a boss that I can't even scratch I won't stick around for a 37 minute fight 😉 so I have some things to return to.

      I'm level 40 now and the story bosses are just not scary anymore. But so far I still enjoy being a bit overpowered at times so it's fine. I just have big loot FOMO. I couldn't forgive myself if I found some cool weapon during the "almost done" cleanup that I would have liked to use for more of the playthrough.

        Don't fret. I think concentrating on the story quests first is the best way to keep the difficulty most engaging. You can keep playing after the end. The side content you can access after getting access to all areas is the hardest in the game. But if you do that first you can easily one shot anything, including the final boss.

          Yeah, eventually a dungeon will just stop being dangerous. Of course, there’s no good reason to ever take damage in this game. Unless you make mistakes.

          I make a lot of mistakes.

          I love that all the no damage gamers switched to all damage runs with this game as "the hard thing". Because everyone already knows that a hitless parry only run is possible. No need to prove it.

            Nice one!

            Do Golgra next. I think she has so much health that it would take you a few hours.

              It was Sprong that took me ages, and I'd already largely beaten the game at that point.

                  By end game you are dishing out millions of damage in a single attack so this is likely a waste of time... Except for sprog get that shit asap

                        I haven't bought Nightreign yet, but probably will do later. It's a bit weird concept for me, and i'm not sure i'm ready to play it now. Plus i don't have two friends i can play with

                          Great job! Those first few chromatic enemies really hooked me too. Many attempts before I succeeded, but the practice stayed with me.

                          I'm loving having Luna run solo, with all the Last Standing pictos. She's mega powerful with this config, and learning timing is much easier with one person.

                          There's a secret fight arena that gives those out, really upped my game

                          I loved Lune. I enjoyed her skills and gimmick the most and I think she's probably the one character that takes the least amount of investment to make a decent build for, so she can and will absolutely carry you to the final act. But then she pretty quickly drops off as other characters get their builds together and end up dishing out far more damage than Lune.

                          If you want some build tips
                          ::: spoiler early game
                          I made her into a free aim sniper and used Trebuchim to collect 4 stains that then got used for Mayhem or, if I got lucky, Elemental Genesis. Obviously you stack free aim buffs and some starter energy and dead energy to pick off the weakest enemy to regain AP while getting the necessary stains for the payout. You get 4 spell slots as flex slots if you need them but I personally didn't need them.
                          :::

                          ::: spoiler mid/late game
                          I recommend swapping to Kralim (minimum level 10) and focus on setting up Elemental genesis. For spells you want to make sure you don't consume the stains that you got for free, so either Crippling tsunami, fire rage and terraquake to set up the correct stains and then elemental genesis on the next turn. If you get unlucky and get two of the same type of stain you should set up for Lightning dance. Last spell slot is essentially a flex slot. Either add some buffs or Mayhem to clear up your stains (if you have 4 but can't cant Lightning dance). For Lumina/pictos cheater (obviously) gives the biggest power boost to your build but you need to make sure you start with at least 5 AP to cast the set up spells and then make sure you gain at least 4 AP for your next turn to cast genesis.
                          :::

                          Maybe there's some ultra late game build that works, but I found a build that I enjoyed and when it stopped working I felt I'd rather remember her as she was than try to make her into something I might not enjoy.

                            The most busted late game strat I found on Lune was using Braselim to farm a level 3 Gradient attack every turn (Storm Caller is key for this).

                            Elemental Genesis actually fell out of favour for me once I discovered Hell does better AoE damage and Lightning Dance does better single target.

                            Typhoon is also great if you're playing full strength teams and not low HP/Inverted. You can load it up with both Energising Heal and all the buffs, as well as Energising Rush/Shell/Powerful as needed and it will have your team triple buffed and at max AP every turn.

                              Trying to do a chromatic boss in Act 3 and jeeeze it's moves are so difficult to time and it's a flying enemy so I can't really even attack it.

                                  Are you referring to that chromatic hat guy? I'm in act 2 and I've spent about an hour trying to get one of his moves and it's just not clicking with all of that delay and audio cues for me.

                                    Technically done at level ?? that leveled them up to level 16. So even weaker

                                    Oh yeah, considering the amount needed to level up & the amount they gained, they probably gained a few levels with that single fight
