My school is about to start and I am still working. I am just stressing out. Japanese is like a bottomless well.

I am spending way more time than I should learning Japanese and ignoring other things.

I have no choice but to stop learning Japanese. I don't live in Japan. I probably will never use Japanese.

    I am so sorry, sensei.

You can take a break and come back later, or study less. The Japanese language isn't going anywhere.

Not sure where your reading level is currently at, but if you are a certain ways in, you can always try to just casually immerse yourself, if you want or are worried about losing your progress.

Change the UI of one of your (non-essential) phone apps to Japanese.

Change one of your favourite games that you are very familiar with's language setting to Japanese, just as a couple examples.

Just try to maintain what you've already learned until you get in a better place. It doesn't take too much effort to do, and it beats learning everything all over again if you change your mind in the future. Though, if you are certain you are done with it, I guess there's no point.

Yeah, that's pretty understandable. It's a lot. Don't let it become a drag on the rest of your life!

Though I'd suggest you can timebox some learning activity to 15 minutes a day or something. Tiny progress every day adds up to a lot over years. It depends a lot though. If you know it'd lead you back to unhealthy situations, dropping it is for the best.

Been there! I suspended learning Japanese throughout university because doing both is insane. Good luck coming out on the other side! It gets better.

Thanks. Fall semester is about to start and I am taking psychology. Really have no time for Japanese. Perhaps later
