Glad to read Frieren won, it’s a really good series!!

Now I'm curious where the story was headed in the second season that turned you off, but that would be spoilers…

at first I wanted to like the characters, the story was ok, and there was even a redemption arc. but then they all started to betray one another and do things out of character that was just plain childish. halfway through the second season I wanted to quit but held hope it would get better. it did not. unbelievably, it got worse.

I want to say you're right, but there's a certain shtick involved in the leads' relationship I just couldn't get past. It never goes much further.

Man, i did not see this coming. I am actually sorta at a loss for words here, i can't wait to play it

As far as I got with it, there was absolutely no porn, and less skin on show than your typical modern high school romcom. The setup goes like this: noble daughter is engaged to the crown prince, without anyone asking her opinion on the matter. After being forced through several years of unpleasant training, she finally escapes, but now everyone in her life is pressuring her to go back "for her own good". It's the fact that they're pretending that the forced marriage benefits her and she's just being stubborn/stupid that makes it icky more than the fact of the forced relationship itself.

Visually stunning, unique plot, many distinctive characters with plenty of development, and most importantly, existential dread. Sometimes it’s a little hard to follow what’s going on in the action due to the peculiar style, and some may consider parts slow.However, the show is beyond reproach.

Also been looking for a way to read LNs. If you're not buying, best I can recommend is nyaa for downloading. Haven't found a reliable source for reading online.

More examples of the emperor being based: he's not a lolicon given that he didn't go after the young consort he wants to stop genital mutilation looks like he's the one lending his weight behind the progressive policies being rolled out I can't help but think he is being set-up to be the final antagonist though, with a power struggle between him and Jinshi for the throne.
