Not sure tbh.
What are the best manga sources ?
Currently the primary source that I find the most trustworthy is Mangadex as they provide author/creator links to purchase their content.

Sure!
As for sources, almost my entire library is Mangadex with just a few exceptions. I have a couple Manga Plus series that I follow, one VIZ series, and then the odd scanlator group here or there that posts things to their page way before Mangadex and have an extension.
But seriously though, I just ran the numbers and I am at ~95% Mangadex.

What are the best manga sources ?I'm using TachiJ2K
with these “sources”:I despise how diasporic everything is, instead of the Darknet P2P I was promised.
Can't believe how many of you are extremely behind.

The last two replies before me, recommended a website that had been throughfully compromised, twice.
Centralization is exactly what leads to these issues.
Being on Lemmy, one would think there would be more mirrors of sources on TOR, I2P, SimpleX, GNUNet, etc..
A friend of mine even showed me an onion group that strictly publishes scanlateds on webp format.
I'm still financially ruined to remake mangadouga format. -

I'm still financially ruined to remake mangadouga format. So a site gets compromised, fixes it quite thoroughly (they even completely took it down for quite some time) and you no longer trust it?
Also, twice? Both your sources refer to the same incident.
Being on Lemmy
The decentralized nature of Lemmy is hardly the reason I'm using it and I think I'm not remotely alone in this. In fact, I think it has a lot of downsides, particularly in regards to usability.

Are you trying to lead somewhere with this?
Or can you empathize the disporia of sourcing? Why do we need “Mangadex, but also bato.to, Manga Plus and some group specific sources. Also Komga,” when you should just be able to connect on a p2p client, and find your manga, in your scan group[s] of choice and language selection?
What happened to sourcing? -

What happened to sourcing?I think the main issue here is that not every group that provides free scanlations has the technical know-how (or the interest) to tackle the issue. They see the easy and open platform of sites like MD or Bato, and use it to upload to a bigger user base.
I don't necessarily after nor disagree with this, but after 30 years in IT I am not surprised at all.

I'm trying to say I don't agree with your stance that we should use P2P and decentralize everything.

Then enjoy the nth time any of those sites get taken down.

I’m extremely aware of this.
But I’m still too financially destitute to even tackle a simple manga format.
May our influence reach further readers than just the technological illiterate. -

What are the best manga sources ?imo the best source is a locally hosted komga server. Download/purchase manga for hi res copies from places like AB/nyaa/baka/etc, rip scanlations with something like hakuneko or fmd2. Place in a folder, install komga+komf, point it at said folder. Komga scans in manga, komf scrapes metadata from manga updates or MAL. Use the Komga plugin in mihon and your progress is tracked both ways.
Much higher res most of the time, better translations, faster, more reliable, no ads, no tracking, no downtime unless your shit breaks, consistent across devices, and if you get tired of your library you can still just jump to the mangadex plugin or whatever I guess
