Another week in the books. Let's chat about manga in the general discussion thread! Feel free to use this thread for questions, comments, recommendations, etc.
Like normal, please be careful with spoilers. I wrote a guide about spoilers in case you need a refresher on how to handle them (also linked in the sidebar).

Some highlights for me from this past week:
I think I mentioned this in a past weekly thread, but I just caught up with the latest couple chapters and it's been fun. It is a mix between 100 Girlfriends and Pseudo Harem in that the MC is very much like Rentarou in the way he is superhuman to keep all of his girlfriends happy and to show how much he loves them. However, the Pseudo Harem element is that all his girlfriends are actually different personality aspects of the same childhood friend who was magically divided up by supernatural means.
There hasn't been an announcement yet, but I suspect this is building to a series finale, and it has been a great one. If you haven't checked this series out until now, I recommend it so that you can enjoy the finale as it comes out. Each chapter is only 4 pages long, so don't be intimidated by the chapter count.
I checked this series out after seeing it pop up in recent updates and I can't really recommend it. It isn't really bad in any way, but it wasn't really good either. I think the kids today would call it mid. I went through the chapters available on Mangadex, but I am going to leave it there. It wasn't able to grab my attention.
I saw that this series just had a batch of its initial chapters come out this past week, so I thought I would give it a go. It is one of those series where dungeons popped up in our world and changed everything (magic, skills, etc). I kind of feel a bit confused by this series. Sometimes it feels like a serious, dark, post-apocalyptic kind of story. Then, other times, it feels like it is trying to be an iyashikei where the MC saves the world through the power of vending machines. Not really sure where this is going yet.

This week I read the first 8 chapters of Medalist. I'd say it's even more charming than the anime! So much text though. So. Much. Text. The illustrations are surpassingly cute, which makes up for it, but it took me ages to get through it. Just look at what you're missing out on if you only watch the anime! I love the little illustration of Hikaru being pushed by the ice, and the manga version of the post-competition talk with Mike is way funnier to me; it reminds me of when mother cats picking up their kittens by the scruff of the neck and the kitten just has to hang there helplessly.

I spent an entire morning a few days ago reading Prison School. I don't know why I had a sudden urge to read it. I finished up to Chapter ~90 at which point most people say it goes down hill.
It's a fun read so far though. Not a life-changing experience obviously but it's ridiculously entertaining. I probably looked stupid giggling under my sheets that day. Also, the art style is incredible. For some reason, this inspired me to study drawing poses again. Too bad it's not something I can read while out in public.
I'd categorize this one with Domestic Girlfriend as "Stupid But Very Entertaining Manga With Great Art".

Read many things, but of real notice Is say The Witch and the Mercenary. I usually don't like violence, but both the world building and the characters are extremely fresh. Absolutely recommend it.
I also managed to catch up to Orenchi ni Kita Onna Kishi to Inakagurashi Surukotoninatta Ken.
Oh, I also read Aisanai to Iwaremashite mo - Moto Maou no Hakushaku Reijou wa Kimajime Gunjin ni Ezuke wo Sarete Shiawase ni naru. I am totally loving this!

A Story About Investing in a Girl at the Workplace
The description sounds like the mangaka read a gal x gacha otaku doujinshi and decided to apply that concept in a regular manga

I'm also reading the second one. When will Chris have her kid, damnit?!

So, it's a trainwreck?
Well that's another similarity, at least based on what other people have said so about it lol

Another two months in the manga, hopefully less for the rest of us.

Would it be a good idea to give posts that only share a new or upcoming volume cover a specific tag? I don't really care for the occassional cover spam, since it clogs up my feed. Having a specific tag would help clean it up for those that don't care to see it.

Is it just the covers because they are images? If that's it, I could make a rule that image posts need the [Art] tag. I don't have auto-expand media turned on, so it's not something that I have had issues with.
Out of curiosity, what frontend/app are you using that allows tags like that. It isn't included in the default lemmy-ui.

It's more that there's a whole lot of consecutive posts I'm not interested in, which pushes down the actual manga posts. I suppose turning off auto expand would make that a little less annoying.

Yea, so that was just an assumption on my end. There are no custom tags for me either. Whoops
